RATING: 6.8/10 We went on a Saturday and the restaurant was surprisingly pretty empty! The decor is very hip with cool art decals and some fake greens....

Lazy staff? They like to close indoor dining early... I was told "it's to help with the kitchen, but you can still order takeout." That doesn't even make sense. I'll just go to the west loop location next time. This location has never impressed. I ended up at another restaurant that actually posts real hours...

Walking into Umami Burger was like eating lunch in a million dollar cabin home somewhere in the Tennessee hills. The fresh wood that covered all of the walls was such a rich feeling that we should’ve paid more for our food. Oh yea, this is not a Real estate review this is a food review. Now let’s talk about the top 3 greatest burgers that has ever blessed my palate. The portions were cut to perfection and the juiciness of the burger dripped down the side of my palm as if I wanted to lick it up for seconds. I wish I would’ve put a small zip lock bag in my pocket to steal some more of those amazing fries, don’t let me get started on their special sauce. All in all, put this spot on your bucket list!

Not impressed - I don't typically leave bad reviews, but this spot left an awful impression. Came here with my cousins and bro, and waited over 30 minutes...

Edit: I'm updating my review that I left 2 years ago. We came back to eat for takeout tonight and the food was much better. We had the impossible burger and Umami Burger, as well as fries with a side of truffle ketchup. Everything was much better this time, so I'm updating my rating to 5 stars. I appreciate that the business responded to my original review and wanted to make my experience better! Original review: We came in for dinner last night and ordered onion rings, an umami burger and a throwback burger. The umami was good for the first 2 bites but the good rich taste tapered off for the remaining chomps. A little disappointing, definitely not the best burger in Chicago. The onion rings were incredibly undercooked, all of them had a raw batter inside. My date got a real bad stomach ache after the meal. The service was great, though. So it's got that going for it. Our sever swapped out fries for the onion rings which was nice. The side sauces were also very good.

We got here around 6pm on Thursday night. It was not too much of the wait to get the food. We enjoyed the unique flavors of adobo chicken and a juicy burger and sandwich. We will definitely come back again.

I'm rating for a delivery. Fast delivery. I got the throwback burger and added an egg. It was hot, juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfect for me. I would have it again. The truffle fries on the other hand were sad and disappointing. $7.50 for a handful of fries with a small amount of cheese on top. Flavor was meh. Maybe it's a bigger portion for dine in.

Fantastic burgers. Fantastic fries. Fantastic apps. Excellent service. We stopped in for lunch on a Thursday and were seated immediately. The ambiance is hip. The music was as tasty as the burgers. Vegetarians need not despair, there are a number of items on the menu to choose from that can satisfy almost any palate.
