Piccolo Sogno - Chicago
On Chicago’s near north side, Piccolo Sogno is the “little dream” of Chef Tony Priolo, whose goal has been to serve the very finest in rustic Italian cuisine, using locally sourced – as well as imported Italian –ingredients, combined using classic techniques. What that means is that you’ll find familiar favorites that leverage the very best domestic and foreign products, such as the Caprese salad with tomatoes and basil from Midwestern farms and imported fresh buffalo mozzarella from Campania, along with Pugliese hand-stuffed mozzarella with prosciutto, and roasted duck with Tuscan kale sourced from places like Chicago’s Green City Market. Piccolo Sogno offers their own extra virgin olive oil and 15-year-aged balsamic vinegar (after you fall deep into food-love with these artisanal products, you can take home a bottle or two of both). In a neatly appointed, white tablecloth (but totally unstuffy) dining room, Priolo serves hearty food with a wide range of wines, all Italian (what’d you expect?!).
