The Evie

The Evie - Chicago

The Evie opened in the Michigan Avenue space that once housed Bandera, with big windows overlooking majestic Boul Mich. This place shows a lot of promise, with a beautifully redesigned space and at the helm, Chef Phil Rubino, previously of L20 and Spiaggia.

Chef Rubino says, "Being on Michigan, you’ve got everybody — tourists, people who live here, people who work here and live in the suburbs. You have to cater to that a little bit, but the trick is that you make the food really good and keep it approachable but fun.”

So what does the menu look like at a place that appeals to everyone with food that is really, really good, approachable but fun?

Sushi has become everybody's favorite food, and of all the sushi options at The Evie, the one that's getting the most attention is the Lobster Volcano Roll (Maine lobster, chili oil, cucumber, avocado, sweet chili mayo and tempura battered red peppers), but there are many other delectable rolls on this menu.

For your entree, there's a half chicken and the filet, as well as the very delicious Ruby Red Trout (seasoned and grilled, served with creamy coleslaw and Mighty Vine tomatoes). The Evie Classic Burger is just what you'd expect (and you would be justified in expecting a lot), and the American Wagyu Chicago Style Hot Dog, fully dressed with all the classic accompaniments, will blow your mind; it's so good. You're going to love the USDA Prime 30-Day Dry Aged Charred Ribeye. You enjoy those crispy nubbins of fat on a grilled steak? There are lots of them on this beautiful piece of meat.

Of course, to accompany all this excellent food, there's a focused and excellent selection of wines (many available by the glass) and some amazing cocktails.
