Somerset - Chicago
Set on the first two levels of the Viceroy Hotel, Somerset is the first Gold Coast establishment from Boka Restaurant Group.
It replaces Cedar Hotel, and the more infamous Melvin B's/Cactus Bar that established itself as the go-to summer watering hole in the neighborhood.
Somerset is bright and airy with a nod to a bygone era of the country club lifestyle. Its interiors are designed by James Beard Award-winning design firm Avroko.
Helmed by chef/partner Lee Wolen, Somerset serves all dayparts and the menu consists of classic and contemporary American fare. In the morning you'll find buttermilk pancakes and for dinner there's roasted king salmon, a whole roasted chicken and a dry-aged ribeye.
A lounge at the front of the restaurant attracts locals and area residents looking to wind down; rooftop bar Devereaux boasts craft cocktails, a miniature pool and a view of nearby skyscrapers.
