Brunch review: French toast has nice structure and is topped with some crunchy elements to elevate the dish texturally. Heirloom tomatoes were slightly overripe; dressing flavors were good but was hoping for more out of the "crispy garlic." Restaurant decor is great and like that the dining room is open to the kitchen.

Chef Tatum offered a luxury dining experience second to none. From the way her staff moved offering nothing but kind words & assistance to the breath taking desserts she so artfully prepared, the entire experience was absolutely fantastic. Everything was great! For appetizer, we got the spicy crab on crispy rice. It was small (4 pieces in total) but very tasty. For dinner, I got the roast chicken--one of the best chicken dishes I've had. My partner got the lobster burger, which was also very good. We also got the brussels sprouts--excellent! Drinks were also very good. Overall, a great experience!

Considering the location of Somerset, I expected more. We made a brunch reservation and were seated quickly. We were offered the patio and the weather was perfect that day so we couldn’t pass it up. Sadly, the service was horrible (and not just for our table). I noticed that many other tables were as neglected as we were. Once we finally did get to put an order in, it took an hour for food to come out. Mind you, this is brunch service which should involve easier prep. In the end, the quality of service and long wait detracted from the experience. For brunch, I suggest avoiding. By the time we were actually eating, I didn’t think the food was worth it anymore.

Really liked this place for lunch — my biggest complaint was that the service was very slow but they have a $35 3 course tasting menu for lunch that includes an amazing avocado toast and a truly delicious burger with cheesecake. That’s an amazing deal for the quality of the food that you get and you can do the tasting menu even if others at your table aren’t. The atmosphere is gorgeous. I’d definitely return!

The food here is great. I love Chef Stephen. Unfortunately, the service is not accommodating. We were at a table in the sun and it was too hot to touch our silverware. We asked to be moved to the shade. They said they would move us, but then seated other patrons at all of the tables in the shade and then told us they thought we wanted to stay in the sun. Eventually they moved us inside. If you’re going to promise something, follow through with it. After they moved us inside, service went way downhill. No one followed up asking if we wanted drinks or dessert. We will probably eventually be back since the food is good. Hopefully the service will have improved by then.

Three very different palates at the table. All of us were delighted by our meal and experience at Somerset. Terrific and attentive staff. Tatum Sinclair and her team are stars, from the homemade bread appetizer (truffle-honey ricotta, trust me) to dessert (a perfect mix of options on the menu). We had the short rib, duck and branzino. All were cooked perfectly. For the finale, we had the cheesecake, chocolate cake and pavlova. Spectacular! The neighborhood is vibrant, so there’s much to enjoy, if you dine outside. A perfect end to a perfect day in Chicago. Thank you!
