The Kitchen American Bistro - Chicago
The Kitchen American Bistro aims to take the communal-dining concept one step further in what they've dubbed "community through food." The downtown Boulder, Colo.-based restaurant opened in 2004 and brought an outpost to Chicago in 2014.
The non-profit The Kitchen restaurants specialize in food and drink from local farmers, ranchers and purveyors. And being a community establishment also includes their commitment to environmentally friendly practices, including eco-friendly packaging and recycling.
The Chicago Kitchen is located in the Reid Murdoch Building in River North, and it sits right off the Chicago River. While the menu is seasonal, serving brunch, lunch and dinner, guests can always count on a daily oyster selection, house-made charcuterie platter and a nice offering of house-made pastas.
Brunch showcases morning cocktails, seasonal breakfast hash, and a signature breakfast sandwich of maple-braised pork, bacon, Provolone cheese, fried egg and breakfast potatoes.
