Last night my husband ordered a taco bowl from Pink Taco. He picked up the package, which was stapled shut, and walked the 5 minutes home. Once he was home, he opened the bag to discover that he had been given the wrong order. He walked back and told the guy at the desk that he'd been given the wrong order. Without a word of apology, he gave my husband the correct order which, by now had been sitting on their bench for at least the 10 minutes, though judging by the cold soggy mess that greeted us, it was significantly longer. My husband asked the guy what he was going to do with the first package, because there are some homeless folk nearby who we sometimes drop off excess meals to, and the guy just dropped it into the trash without responding. Still no apology and no offer to remake the soggy mess.
Later, when we phoned up to express our disappointment at the entire experience, the guy (same one who served) lied about the situation to my husband and still offered no apology, blaming staffing issues. I'm not sure how staffing issues render one rude and ignorant to their customer, especially when they have made a mistake. I have previously been in the service industry for years, and the more understaffed we were, the more apologetic I was to my clients because they deserve good service but there is only so much a person can do. When dealing with understaffed restaurants, I am aware of this. At no time was I ever rude, offhand or belligerent towards my clients the way this person was..
I do hope, when Pink Taco closes through terrible, rude service, as we sincerely expect it to (there are a stack of superior taco places nearby) that the chefs get decent jobs elsewhere, because the food was flavoursome. We've been to Pink Taco a few times before, but the service has generally been pretty average or less. We won't be going again.
