Le Sud - Chicago
Le Sud in Roscoe Village serves Mediterranean food, with a strong French influence, healthful but, just as importantly, quite delicious.
With a broad and varied menu, Le Sud has a good range of French finessed items as well as more casual items like steak and hamburgers.
A starter that will keep you coming back to Le Sud is the Fried Artichoke Hearts with cauliflower, citrus, harissa yogurt, honey -- this beautiful and wonderful starter (or tapas, if you prefer) has everything you look for in an opener, slightly spicy, crunchy, light and surprising (fried lemons!).
Pan-seared Scallops with heirloom cherry tomato, fennel, caperberry, lemon, fine herbs, and evoo is a beautiful looking dish, tending toward the light but full of flavor from well-sourced scallops.
For heartier appetites, there's a Grilled Denver Steak Txuleton, with roasted red peppers, matchstick frites, and aioli, a filling and fabulous steak.
You can't do better for dessert than the sabayon, a light custard with fresh fruit, and an excellent conclusion to the meal.
There are many wines available by the glass, the better to sample a wide range of vino with your dinner, which you can enjoy on the patio, year-round.
