Crescendo - Chicago
The late-night lounge re-opens under new ownership. The team behind Sound-Bar and Y have make a few tweaks to the interior to put their own stamp to the River North bar.

This place is pretentious. Bouncers can be real jerks but I guess that's what they're paid to do. I have been here twice and both times, they played electronica with the same beats over and over and over. I made the best of it though. There really isn't much of a dance floor though. They have more seating area which gives it a lounge feel. The drink prices are ridiculous. I have to admit however, the girls are beautiful here especially the go-go dancers. The men, on the other hand, are pervy and too forward. Also, the bathrooms are in the basement so the only way down is a stairwell, which can be a bit tricky when there's a bunch of drunk people walking in front and behind you. The bathroom attendant is very nice at least. They actually use real linen napkins instead of paper napkins. Nice touch.
“I've gone here a number of times and always had a good time and never a problem. The door people have always been nice, they don't make you wait in line just for the sake of having a line.
I've gone here a number of times and always had a good time and never a problem. The door people have always been nice, they don't make you wait in line just for the sake of having a line. I believe women are always free and the most I've had to pay is $10 which is a good deal compared to most of the other Chicago clubs. Vallet right out front is $12 and I've never had a problem. It's a pretty big place with lots of places to sit down unless it's really full with people getting bottle service. The VIP section doesn't get in the way of having a good time (like at The Mid, which I also like otherwise). It seems like a pretty good crowd, and I've never seen any fights. People are there to have a good time and I don't think the women are too stuck up or the guys are trying to act like tough-guys. I think mixed drinks are $9 without tip, could be $10 though. They serve them from actual glasses and not plastic like virtually any other club except for really Exclusive ones. I've never gotten bottle service, but I think you have a better chance at getting a deal through a promoter or negotiating with a host there than you would at most other clubs. The music is generally Vocal House with Remixes/Mashups, Some Hip-Hop/Top 40. Crescendo usually doesn't get going until at least 2. I was there early on a Wednesday for a party and we were pretty much the only ones there most of the night, even at 1 if I remember correctly, but the place was packed at 3 AM... on a Wednesday. It's definitely an after-hours club, hence the name. Overall I'd say it's pretty legit and pretty good value relative to the top clubs and a great place to go after another club.
How are they in business. Rude, bitchy and talk in circles. I recently half my id there with an open tab and let me tell you you will spend hours on the phone. No one answers or even actually works.
