I had to use touch tunes to request songs and each time I put money in to request a song, it was skipped. This bar wants you to spend money but not enjoy...

This place is very similar to the next door bar Halligans. They actually have the same owner and you will see the same bartenders working both locations,...

Back in the day this was the place to go for drinks, great blues. Children's & Grant Hospital were open, folks would stop in after their shift. Walk over or find a place to park on the street. I'd stop after grabbing a nice fat sub at Potbelly's when it was on Lincoln. Something that would put something in my stomach so that I could have a 🍺. Walk back to Wise Fools. Pay the cover. Noisy as hell between the music from great local Chicago artists, and folks getting hoarse trying to talk to each other at those little tables. I missed the 70's period with Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Mighty Joe Young. John Lee Hooker. Johnny Winter. George Thorogood here 1978. I remember that sax of A.C. Reed. And this vivid memory of this one artist smiling broadly, animated, engaged the audience who stopped talking to chant part of the refrain "So I drink." The place rocked. Times change. Crowds, neighborhoods, owners - at least 3 - changed. Long before alt-rock. Just wanted to honor that time, that place, those memories. It was great when it was. Sorry that it's gone.
