Venteux - Chicago

Chef Don Young (Temporis, WoodWind) at Venteux provides his takes on traditional French bistro classics, with a number of other popular dishes, ensuring that everyone will be happy when they dine at his new restaurant.

French Onion Soup, Salade Nicoise, and New York Steak Frites are just three of the bistro classics that come out of Chef Young's kitchen. To accompany all dishes, there's a very large selection of wine by the glass (the better to lunch in the manner of the French...with just a glass or two).

In addition to French bistro standards, done up with the highest quality ingredients, Venteux serves a spectrum of foods, representing many of the countries that were colonized by the French over the centuries.

From Southeast Asia, there's a bahn mi hash, with short-rib, lemongrass and cilantro, conjuring the flavors of Vietnam's favorite sandwich.

Representing Morocco, there's a Warm Couscous Salad with carrots, raisins and pine nuts.

For those whose tastes tend more American, there's the Venteux burger (something you'd not likely find in France, SE Asia or Africa), with raclette, charred leek relish and herbs (you can add bacon...bien sur!).

Of course, whatever you're eating for your main course, you should consider starting with Venteux's inestimable oyster selection, either on their formidable seafood tower or individually (pro tip: during happy hour, you can get an oyster with mignonette sauce for only a dollar).
