I purchased a cake over the phone... I told whoever the girl on the phone was that I needed it for the weekend which was 3 days away. She told me my total and that was it. Great! I go in 3 days later to pick up my cake and when I go in to sign my receipt I see she has charged me double the cake price into a "rush fee" ... so I inquire about this rush fee that was never discussed over the phone. The lady apologized and told me the other girl probably didn't know about it. Uuuhhmmm I recognized her voice it was the same lady!!! I needed the cake so I wasn't going to fight it... 3 hours later the cake ended in the garbage as it was the worst cake my friends and I had. I recommend Jewel cake over this.

We set up a wedding cake tasting and consultation with Tipsycake while in our wedding search. When we arrived, all of the lights were off and the doors were locked. I called the store and got no answer. I left a voicemail that we were waiting but would have to leave, and that I was very upset since I had taken a day off of work for the tasting. Eventually, someone called me back and asked when I would be available to come back. I told her 2:30 and she said that she would come back at 3. I said no, I have to be out of the area before then. When I did go back, the lights were still all out and a girl, still wearing her jacket, handed me 6 frozen cupcakes. She listed the flavors and listed one as "flavor of the day." I asked what the flavor of the day was, she didn't know, and she told me that the name of the cake was just "flavor of the day." When we left, we saw her leaving as well. I would never trust them to do our wedding cake - I wouldn't even know that it would be there on time.

Just recently got a cake for my father-in-law's birthday and it turned out incredible. I gave a loose idea of what we wanted in order to leave some creative room and she ran with it very well. Most of the negative reviews seem like they are from people who don't understand how this business works. Naomi communicated with me through email, responded very quickly, and did an amazing job on a short amount of time.

I have known Naomi for a few years and have ordered several cakes & treats from her in the past. Her cakes are creative and delicious and I've never been disappointed. I work in the wedding industry and I have seen her wedding cakes and groom cakes displayed at bridal events and they are works of art. This review, however, is for Tipsycake's Event Space in Bucktown. All I can say is WOW! My sister is getting married this year and the bridal party struggled with a place to host a shower. We live in Chicago and most of us don't have condos or apartments large enough. We looked at some restaurants and private spaces but they seemed stuffy, formal, and expensive. Then I realized I had seen some wedding and baby showers featured on Tipyscake's Facebook Page! I reached out to Naomi and she was incredibly helpful in helping us figure out the details and secure a date. During the planning process Naomi and her team were able to answer all my questions and provide suggestions and help guide us. We decided to do a tea service for our guests (which they offer daily, and it's BYOB!). They came up with the idea of coordinating the cakepops and sweets to match the shower colors. They suggested we bring an ipod loaded with a playlist for music. They thought of everything I was too busy to think of! The day of the shower the staff at Tipsycake was amazing! Very attentive and helpful. They checked with us to see when they should pass out the scones, start serving, etc. Helped us move the party along and start opening gifts, cut the cake, etc. I was overwhelmed as the "host" and appreciated their suggestions and for helping me keep the shower moving. It's obvious they are very experienced in hosting showers and parties and know their stuff!! We were allowed to arrive a little bit early to decorate and their staff also offered to help us with any setup we were doing. This was above and beyond. All of our friends and family could not stop talking about the food. The tea sandwiches, bruschetta, and scones were all a huge hit! The tea selection was impressive. The cake pops were amazing and the cake - vanilla passionfruit - was my favorite to date!! Everyone was blown away by the space, the staff, the service, the food. We could not have asked for a better shower location in the city. It felt intimate and personal. If you are planning a wedding or baby shower, a birthday, a girl's outing - I would highly recommend a private party at Tipsycake. I cannot wait to go back for afternoon tea service soon. I will probably be taking my mother in law when she visits. Thank you again to Naomi and the Tipsycake staff for an amazing event!

I am usually not a dessert person. But the sweets they bake here are so delicious. They are not too sweet and not too bland. Definitely one of my favorite place for sweets!

WORST. EVER. O STARS So, I had ordered a cake for my wife's birthday. It was supposed to be a life scale designer shoe, large enough to feed 20+ people. The shoe was supposed to be complete with detailing, down to the red sole. When the cake was delivered the morning of my wife's birthday, I was livid. This was not a lifescale shoe, no, instead TipsyCake had ripped me off of over $600 for a mini, tiny, 3 inch sloppy shoe that didn't look ANYTHING like the designer shoe I had sent a picture in. This little 3 inch shoe was atop a giant white square cake, that had sloppy writing on top "Happy Birthday". It was literally the saddest thing I had ever seen come from a cake shop. No detailing on the shoe, no pristine hand work. You could see lines where they had applied color to the little Barbie shoe. They put 0 effort and 0 work into my cake, completely ripped me off, and DID NOT EVEN DELIVER WHAT I HAD ORDERED. The owner was a complete unprofessional and did nothing to rectify the situation. In the end, I had to find a replacement cake before my wife saw this devastation.
