The Medici on 57th

I have been going to Medici for decades, now. Since before the bakery had it's own location. Their cinnamon rolls and croissants are some of my favorite in the city. I don't make it to Medici as much as I'd like to anymore, but I always try to stop by when I'm in Hyde Park. They do have a lot of grab and go salads/sandwiches, etc. as well.

For $43.36 for 2 sandwiches, you would expect a top notch take out, but this was a big disappointment for the second time around. The $17 “steak” sandwich had a paper thin cut of super dry piece of meat and 10” thick cut of bread. The tuna was decent size but poor presentation. Food was ordered at 4:05, picked up at 4:35, and at 4:50 it was cold, fries were soggy, and on the top of this they wanted to charge me $1.75 for a side of ranch dressing. They did “exchange” my spicy Mayo for a side of ranch at no charge. Wow!! Gracious. My dine in experience before Covid time was great. But for the take out I would go elsewhere!!!! Sorry, not for $44.

I hadn't been here in years and it was a wonderful experience. The wait to get a table was short. The wait staff was excellent. The food was well prepared and very good. I ordered the Medici spinach pizza, personal pan, one of the best I've had in years. All the kids, big and small ordered burgers either chicken or hamburgers. When the food came the entire table was quiet, so I know they all enjoyed everybody. I cannot wait to go back.

Always love Medici especially the calamari. Great place for pizza too. You can pen something unique on booths to make your trip memorable. Pretty cool to read what others have written :)

I loved the salads freshness , and the various menu options. I will order a pizza during my next visit. The service is top notch. Having the opportunity to sit on the patio in April was extra special. I recommend calling ahead if the patio is your choice. The inside seating is comfortable and relaxing. The music volume is perfect for conversations. Good food. Good environment.
