Tetto Chicago - Chicago
Chicago winters get a bad rap, and maybe some of that is deserved, so when it's warm out, Chicagoans flock to sidewalk cafes and rooftop bars, like the new one at Tetto Chicago. With food provided by the Pizza Professor, time spent on Tetto Chicago's rooftop is always a good time.
The pies at Tetto's Chicago are quite good, courtesy of the Pizza Professor. As reported in Eater Chicago, "Professor Pizza is teaching summer school on top of a West Loop rooftop. Anthony Scardino, the competitive pizza maker who’s built a business out of running his own virtual restaurant in Humboldt Park has moved and teamed up with the owners of Recess and Untitled Supper Club." So what are some of these outstanding pies? There are the predictable -- and hugely popular -- cheese, pepperoni and sausage, but there are also a few more exotic choices that will appeal to the rooftop gourmand. Consider the Supreme: red sauce, cup 'n char pepperoni, Italian sausage, seasonal mushrooms, creamed spinach, oil cured black olives, roasted peppers, and shaved red onion. Or the Humboldt Pie (a throwback to the Pizza Professor's popup in Humboldt Park: vodka sauce, pepperoni, pineapple, red onion, pickled jalapeño, and ranch dressing. After choosing your pizza, you select your crust style: cracker thin (think Vito & Nick's), New York style, and Grandma style (a square pizza, just like grandma used to make). If pizza is not your jam, you have options: a salumi board that looks fantastic; pork/beef/veal meatballs; marinated olives or spinach/artichoke dip -- the kinds of finger food that pairs perfectly with a casual rooftop vibe. There is, of course, a good selection of wine and beer, and also some fine seltzers, including pineapple, blood orange, and wild berry. Bottle service (gin, tequila, mezcal, whiskey, vodka) is available, for those who are ready to party the night away.
