Many folks claim they support local and small businesses, but the husband-and-wife team behind Cleveland Avenue truly stand behind their words. Don and Liz Thompson--founders of the Chicago venture capital and consulting firm named after the street where they grew up--invest in food, beverage and restaurant concepts they showcase at their restaurant Taste 222.

Situated in the bustling Fulton River District neighborhood, the sleek restaurant is a popular hangout for those who work and live in the neighborhood. There's live music, deejays spinning on the regular and a sport-bar lounge with an enormous screen for guests to watch games.

Taste 222 is open for breakfast through dinner with offerings ranging from Belgium waffles topped with roasted peaches to prosciutto-wrapped filet mignon.

Fantastic food, I highly recommend! The blackened catfish, with braised greens, with watermelon pico mmm.. good eating! Also, the shrimp and grits! Delicious!

Perfect space to get work done! This a gem and a wonderful place to have work lunches and enough space for a workshop. Staff is wonderful and the food is incredible. The decor is tasteful and every piece is intentional.

Order delivery and was very happy with the "Family meal - rotisserie chicken". The chicken was tender and the two sides were equally good. The cake was a little too sweet but otherwise reasonably priced quality food. One minor problem: ordered fries but missing - not sure if it was the fault of restaurant or delivery driver (Uber).

Amazing place. I came to Chigago on a Train trip from WA state to NY to meet my lover of 2 and a half years after being online for so long. I stopped here to fill myself up after a 3 day non stop trip. I got the Prime Rib Salad, and it was amazing. I promised I would come back again. I found this resteraunt by looking up "Black Owned Business" and felt like doing my part instead of spending my money on corporations. I couldn't Dine In, but I ate on the curb next to the road. It was so amazing. It was beyond delicious, cooked perfectly. The people I talked to while waiting for my food were so kind. I don't even care that they thought I was a female and kept calling me beautiful and the likes (I'm trans) I was just so happy to be somewhere and to be free at 18 for the first time.

Definitely recommend! Great experience from entrance to exit! Food was delicious and Rashid is amazing. Will definitely return when I’m back in Chicago.

I ordered the chicken meal for 4 to go. I was feeling doubtful that there would be enough food, but there was plenty. In addition I only had to order 25 minutes before I wanted it, and it all turned out perfectly. I will certainly be going here in the future, likely many times.

Yum. Yum. And YUM! Super quick delivery and the food was fresh and hot. Ordered the bourbon ribs, Mac n cheese, and roasted vegetables. Would definitely return!
