Was excited to finally try Small Cheval…ordered cheeseburgers, fries and strawberry shake. The food was ok, but the burgers were on the salty side and the meat was a bit dry. I ordered extra lettuce and guess extra lettuce means no lettuce. Didn’t bother to complain since I already took a big bite. The fries were well cooked and good size to share.

Couldn't get seated at Au Cheval so took a nice drive to Small Cheval instead. Worth the trip! The line moves along well and it's nice for small talk and people watching while you wait. The outdoor seating is really cute with a sizable space of lunch tables and benches all around. Perfect location for a delicious burger and some al fresco dining with your peeps or a date. Not cheap but a good investment in a good burger, drink (adult beverage and shake options). The fries won me over because they are super golden brown and crispy. Double fried perhaps but I'm not sure. The staff was friendly and conversational which was refreshing. Menu is NOT as expensive as Au Cheval but who cares... It's good! Definitely going back!

The brioche buns are toasted to perfection, and the ingredients all taste very fresh. Their milkshakes are delicious, and their house sauce is superb. Among the best burgers I’ve had in my life, though as a vegetarian I would rate Small Cheval 4 stars rather than 5. This is owed to their up charge for a veggie burger as opposed to beef, and because their fries are fried in lard, and thus are not vegetarian. The outdoor seating area is expansive and cute, and despite their small workspace, the kitchen does a great job of meeting the always high-demand.
