Red Tracton's Steakhouse - Solana Beach
The legendary restaurant is considered a destination before and after events at Del Mar Racetrack. One reason why Red Tracton's has been around since the late 1940s is because it was modeled after East Coast-style steakhouses--not something you see every day in California. Of course it is as flashy as steakhouses go, with a red-hued interior boasting white tablecloths and hardwood accents everywhere.
The family-owned-and-operated Red Tracton's boasts generous portions, and share-able starters like the golden-fried jumbo shrimp, Cajun chicken wings and Eastern-style French fried onions are great for larger groups. All steaks and chops are seasoned with sea salt and fresh ground pepper, and can be served Oscar style (with Hollandaise, crab and asparagus), Bearnaise, or surf 'n' turf with an order of blackened jumbo shrimp.
There's also a host of non-steak dishes (seafood, pork back ribs) and every Sunday at 4pm, the restaurant features a Southern fried chicken dinner.
