Raya - Dana Point
New American. Pan Latin. Asian focused. And coastal cuisine. No matter what you order at this gorgeous, yet understated restaurant overlooking the coast of Dana Point, you're certain to sample these cuisines at once--without even having to experience a tasting menu.
Raya was named "restaurant of the year" in July 2011 by Riviera Orange County and continues its rein by offering inventive dishes prepared with sustainable seafood, local produce, natural and organic meat. As far as steaks and chops, the Colorado lamb chops are amped up with chipotle spice, kiwi-mint jelly and crispy kale, while an all natural prime New York strip is dressed with chipotle hollandaise and truffle chimichurri.
Seafood statements are also strong; pan-seared scallops arrive in a white soy mojo and accompanied by roasted corn and polenta. There are also great starters here, from the smoked swordfish tacos to clam ceviche.
The a la carte brunch is a great time to check out Raya for a more laid-back occasion. There's a chef-driven Croque Madame on the menu, plus coconut French toast and all-natural beef "churrasco."
