Ichi by Torino - Wilmette
With Ichi by Torino, traditional and casual Japanese cuisine comes to Wilmette. Family recipes and a commitment to serving delicious food quickly is what Ichi is all about.
Ichi by Torino specializes in donburi, bao and ramen.
Donburi is a rice bowl dressed with fresh cabbage and pickled daikon. In keeping with the times, Ichi offers diners their choice of bases: multigrain brown rice, white rice or salad greens. Diners also choose the proteins they want in their bowls, including pulled chicken, beef, breaded/fried pork cutlets, or karaage (Japanese fried chicken: fantastic). You can get your karaage super red spicy, with spicy aioli, curry, sweet lemon ginger vinaigrette, sweet chili or teriyaki.
Bao are the very popular super-soft Japanese buns. At Ichi, bao can be stuffed with karaage, pork chashu, pork chashu with kimchee, potato or just plain bao. You can also get a bao bento box with your choice of any two baos, karaage, edamame and a fruit cup.
There are sides like seaweed salad and Japanese cole slaw, and of course the very popular boba, the tea-based bubble drinks that began in Taiwan and have gained a huge following in the United States. You can get it in many different flavors, including black milk tea, matcha and strawberry.
Ramen broth is made fresh everyday. You can choose from several different types of ramen. First you pick your base: Torino chicken or spicy chicken; tonkatsu pork or spicy tonkatsu pork; veggie miso or spicy veggie miso. Then you choose your protein: karaage or pulled chicken, pork chashu, beef, boiled shrimp or sukiyaki tofu. And if all this is sounding too complicated, you can have bob, which is just broth and noodles.
Ichi by Torino helps make your lunch, or dinner, a little more exotic...and delicious.
