Goose Island Shrimp House - Chicago
Opened in 1973, Goose Island Shrimp House exemplifies Chicago's no-frills fried-shrimp shacks. There's no seating and they don't take credit cards. You order by the pound and they deliver up brown paper sacks full of hot, greasy goodness: the namesake shrimp, of course, in a thick jacket of seasoned breadcrumbs, plus frogs' legs, oysters, catfish and more. Open till the wee hours, Goose Island is a great place to fill up after a night on the town.
