Carlos & Carlos - Glencoe
Paul Newman, Robert DeNiro, Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts have all dined at Carlos & Carlos at their first location in Arlington Heights; their new location in Wilmette, open during the summer of 2020, is ready to provide you with the same star-quality service and food.
Carlos & Carlos offers a sizeable menu designed to please appetites both light and hearty. Whether all you’re after is a bowl of house-made minestrone or a more elaborate dinner of short ribs over polenta in a Bordelaise sauce, this newest outpost of the nationally recognized Carlos & Carlos restaurants is going to make you feel like they’re cooking just for you.
Carlos & Carlos aims to satisfy all tastes, and their menu reflects that wide open perspective. Leading with Italian American favorites, dishes at Carlos & Carlos can are sometimes reflective of home cooking, like sausage and escarole, or they may go toward fancier, white tablecloth favorites like the ravioli stuffed with lobster and ricotta, as well as the exquisite veal chop in rosemary sauce.
Pastas at Carlos & Carlos, predictably, are varied and offer some unexpected favorites. For instance, Checca is white angel hair with roasted garlic, virgin olive oil, fresh basil, diced tomatoes and white wine, popular among vegetarian diners; Rigatoni a la Nona is served with braised beef neck in tomato-vegetable sauce, and just a little red wine; and Gnocchi de Casa is a beautiful platter of pillow-soft gnocchi with luscious chunks of filet mignon, crisp broccoli, shaved garlic, sundried tomatoes, and mushrooms in a simple olive oil sauce that shows each of these beautiful ingredients to greatest advantage.
For those interested in more unusual dishes, ones you will not likely find at many or any other Chicago area Italian restaurants, we recommend the Black Pasta (angel hair with sautéed shrimp scallops, red and green bell peppers, and mushrooms in a reduction of champagne and cream lobster sauce), Chicken a la Mario (the broiled breast served with plum tomatoes, in a cream sauce of white zinfandel), or Scallops Provençale (the ever-popular seafood over vermicelli with cherry tomatoes, basil, white wine, and a little garlic).
If you or one of your party is gluten-sensitive, vegan, or have other dietary restrictions, regular recipes can be modified for a reasonable upcharge to accommodate individual tastes and preferences.
Whatever lunch or dinner you choose, Carlos & Carlos has a range of wines by the glass, all within the $10-$14 range.
During the pandemic, al fresco dining on the patio is first come/first served (unless your party is larger than six people).
