Anthony's Restaurant - Boise

I can’t even begin to express my gratitude for the people that work at this restaurant. Not only is the food super delicious and staff super helpful and nice, the Manager (I wish I caught his name) and John went above and beyond tonight! My wife and I have been waiting for awhile to find out the gender of our child. Tonight I handed John a sealed envelope with the gender of our child inside and asked him if he could make this night even more special. John pulled through like a boss and gave us a dessert to remember. I really appreciate all the efforts this restaurant did to make our night a wonderful experience! Here’s to our next great adventure!

My husband took me here for a very special occasion and we truly couldn’t have picked anywhere better! The food was absolutely incredible, holy cow every bite we had was amazing. Then the staff who went out of their way to help us with a special moment and also capture it on camera for us, I can’t even express my gratitude! Shout out to John who is just amazing. Can’t rave enough

An absolutely wonderful experience! My husband and I dined with Anthony's for the first time last week to celebrate our anniversary and they did not disappoint. Our server Carissa was phenomenal, a real gem. She suggested a bottle of wine that paired perfectly with the entrees she helped us decide on, which were delicious! Our server was so professional but also fun and down to earth. She made us feel like she really cared about us and wanted our celebration to be special. Like I said, the food was wonderful, but Carissa's A+ service, and the experience she provided us with was what stuck out the most to us both, and is what has us excited to dine with Anthony's again very soon.

Anthony's was great! Our waitress Kate was extremely attentive to our table and knowledgeable about the menu. Delicious and fresh seafood, great cocktails and relaxing ambiance. I will highly recommend Anthony's to friends and family.

Food was okay. The rest of the experience ruined it for me. Definitely didn't meet my expectations. I believed we were dining upscale. Only attentive staff I encountered was the bar tender. To pay prices like that I expect to be waited on well. Have no desire to try again.

Wife and I went for our anniversary. We both got appetizers, her some scallops with a bacon jelly thing and I had mussels. Her scallops were delicious and cooked perfectly. The bacon jam wasn't bad either and there was some other vinaigrette sauce that was pretty tasty as well. My scallops were meh. For dinner we both had a version of surf and turf. She got the American wagyu sirloin with shrimp and I got the Idaho rainbow trout + another wagyu sirloin. Her shrimp were tough and overcooked and her sirloin was a bad cut of meat that was tough. The sirloin was cooked perfectly though and the butter on top was great. My trout was absolutely delicious and my steak cooked perfectly and much more tender. Both of us had some broccolini that could have used a bit more cooking and salt or something. Regardless I cleaned my plate. Dessert was pretty meh as well, wife got some sort of melting chocolate cake that was more like a flat souffle. I bring up the minor details because Anthony's is not cheap so the bar is set high. As for the food, I would definitely go again. Atmosphere and ambiance are good. Not too loud. Only complaint there would be the cramped tables. It's not horrible but you can easily hear your neighbor's conversation. Service was absolutely fantastic and top notch. Nothing was forgotten, it was fairly quick, professional, but also welcoming. There were families with small children which was great, it's not so snooty you can't bring everyone. Overall I really liked it. Wish my wife's food would have been better but next time she can order something different.

Pros - location, online reservation Cons - Freshness, taste, value. Boise isn’t a seafood town, adjust expectation is necessary. Decided to try out on a weekday dinner, ordered seafood sample platter, scallops. everything below average per same category restaurants which have seafood option. Two star for the oysters, else would be one.

For the price ($250 for my wife and I), there are better restaurants in Boise...Chandler's comes to mind. From the get go, I felt rushed. Waitress moving glasses (wine and water) under our noses as if to say, "hurry and drink up", removing bread (plates and baskets) without asking if we were still eating it. Our appetizer of calamari was sent back after a few bites. All we could taste was salt and the oil of the deep fryer. My halibut was too salty and at times, tasted like I was eating granules of sea salt. After dinner coffees. The waitress delivered the bill and ironically told us to "take our time" but shortly swooped in after the debit card was placed on the table. Upon booking the reservation I was asked if dinner was a special occasion, which it was (anniversary). Nothing was mentioned upon check in or during our dining. Chandler's on the other hand, when told it was our anniversary, wished us a Happy Anniversary upon checking in, and treating us with champagne and desert. Take my review with a grain of salt (no pun intended), but when spending $250 for dinner, there are better options than Anthony's.

They're only getting 1 star because of the seafood experience--everything else about the restaurant was good. I am familiar with Anthony's from Seattle where you can get some really good seafood. Generally, I don't go to seafood restaurants when inland because inland people and restaurants do not generally know how good seafood should taste and be cooked. I made and exception with Anthony's, thinking they would simply copy their Seattle parent. I was wrong. Seafood that is covered in sauces is not seafood anymore. Salmon for example is covered in a sauce, but you are paying premium for wild salmon. You buy wild salmon for the improved flavor, but you only taste the fancy sauce. It might as well be farm raised. Steamer clams come in a fancy salty sauce too, so you can't taste even a hint of clam. The clam chowder at Seattle's Anthony's is truly heavenly, but the Boise Anthony's taste just like Chunky canned chowder, and of course very salty, like everything. I'd sure like to have a conversation with their chef.

Absolutely fabulous dining experience. Fabulous food; delicious and fresh. Beautiful atmosphere; modern and beautiful wood, very comfortable. Excellent staff; knowledgeable and professional. I can't wait to go back! I got the pan fried oysters, medium rare and they were amazing! Crab cakes were amazing.
