Late-night hours, cakes by the slice, Filipino flavors and a distinctly LGBTQ-friendly business focus are a few of the aspects that set this Lakeview/Wrigleyville sweets shop apart from the pack. Owned by (and named for) Filipino native Jennifer Vailoces, the unique bakery spotlights cakes and pastries inspired by ingredients from around the world. This includes Filipino flavors like mango cream cake and "purple velvet" cake with ube mousse, ube chiffon cake and coconut. There's also tres leches cake, classic yellow cake with buttercream, cupcakes in a rainbow of colors and lots more. Late-night hours extend until as last as 2 a.m., providing a sugar fix for barflies. As a member of the LGBTQ community herself, Vailoces strives to hire other members of the community and celebrate others as often as possible.
