Blokes & Birds

Not really sure what this place is trying to be style-wise, but the mac 'n cheese was a hearty portion and they have some skilled bartenders executing their whisky cocktails. I was super creeped out by the 'live band' as the lead singer made you feel guilty for not paying attention to their 90's covers. I'd try this place again, but hopefully they have different entertainment!

Just visited this place last night and it was pretty awesome. Their gourmet appetizers were definitively a favorite. Their beer selection also was very large and we're treated with a 26-year-old bourbon, Blowhard! Will definitively go back again!

Blokes & Birds is a cool place to sit back and drink a beer. The bar doesn't quite fit into the other bars in Wrigleyville, but that's why I like it. It's trendier and cozier, with dark lighting, wood decor, and fire places. They also have a huge beer selection.

We have been going to Blokes & Birds since they opened, and they are consistently excellent. Beer: The kegs rotate frequently with a great selection of English beers and many others. Huge bottle selection. Bartenders really know their stuff. Cocktails: Creative concoctions, worth the price. Appetizers: The scotch egg is amazing! We also recently had the tuna tartar with mango and macadamia nuts and it was surprisingly good. Entrees: The fish and chips is the best in the area. They have 4 dipping sauces and extra malt vinegar if you ask. Everything else we've had was great: burgers, pasta, etc. Brunch: The blokes breakfast comes with house-made sausages (including an amazing blood sausage), eggs, and potatoes. It used to come with a pint of Wells Bombardier (B&B, please bring that back!) The shrimp and grits were good as well as a number of hashes. They continue to introduce new menu items that we love. The only improvement I would make would be to switch the name to Birds & Blokes. It just sounds better!

I've been excited about this place since it first appeared on Clark, mysterious and unannounced, darker and classier-looking than anything else on Wrigleyville Row. I'd been in a few times for the (uniformly excellent) beer selection, but last week the ladyfriend and I decided to drop in for a late night dinner. How was it? Very good. Jolly good. Hell, it's bloody good. First of all, the cocktails: I had a Colonial after the (very patient) server put up with my endless questions and made a firm recommendation. I'm not much of a cocktail drinker, but this drink converted me with its amazing mix of flavors, topped off with a zesty twist from the orange bitters. The ladyfriend had the Wicked Googly, a hot chocolate drink with Chartreuse, Stout, and Godiva Dark, and it was an effort to get her to share it with me. Next, the food: Blokes and Birds is pure pub fare with a dash of upscale ingredients. Lady went with the Fancy Curry, being a vegetarian, and her eyes nearly rolled back in her head at the taste--it rivals anything we've had on Devon. Being the meat-eater, I had little choice but to demolish their ample serving of Shepherd's Pie. Both of us were so well-fed, picking out and devouring the Double Deuce white-and-dark chocolate mousse was sweet agony. All the while, we were attended by a helpful, patient, friendly server. The waits were sometimes long, but never so long we grew restless, and the guy gave so many good recommendations I'm inclined to cut him some slack. Hard to find food this good in Wrigleyville. We'll definitely be back again.

Came in for some beer, nice offering. Pleasant atmosphere for the area. You don't have the same drunk crowd. Recommended
