Berrista

Berrista - Chicago

Chef Homaro Cantu, owner of Chicago’s Michelin-starred Moto restaurant today announced Cantu Restaurant Group’s latest offering, Berrista, will open Monday, December 8th. Located in Chicago’s Old Irving Park neighborhood at 4219 W. Irving Park Road, Berrista will feature homemade "healthy junk food" donuts, pastries, sandwiches, fresh fruit smoothies, coffee, tea, and more. Planned hours will be Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., closed Sunday.

Berrista will offer menu items made with and without sugar. Imagine combining lemon and water enhanced with a Miracle Berry that tastes like lemonade with no added sugar. A chicken and waffle dish will come with lemon juice and water that will taste similar to maple syrup.

“Berrista is changing the face of coffee and sugar. It is built upon a curious jellybean-shaped fruit called the Miracle Berry, which is able to change sour and bitter flavors to taste sweet. Expect items like a tasty blueberry turnover, a raspberry coffee cake, and a chicken and waffle sandwich with sugar-free maple syrup. Our belief for Berrista is to give customers the flavors they crave, but to do so in a way that's healthier for them. Flavor is always in season—we invite you to enjoy your vices,” said Berrista Chef/Owner Homaro Cantu.

Moto vet and Berrista Chef Azeez Yusuf added, “I’m really excited to be working alongside Chef Homaro Cantu on this exciting journey in culinary innovation. Berrista represents a place where new possibilities will take root and surprising new twists with flavor and health in mind cultivate daily."
