Weekday Planner: Starving Artists Supper Club, Bourbon County Stout Kickoff, Build-Your-Own Miso Ramen at Sunda, Bourbon Dinner at The Signature Room
Starving Artists Supper Club at The Whistler
Every Monday this month, The Whistler is rounding out its impressive cocktail portfolio with a makeshift supper club. The Starving Artists Supper Club is designed as a way to enjoy a meal with musicians who have played at the iconic Logan Square cocktail bar and music venue. With the purchase of a cocktail, meal tickets will pave the way for fall comfort foods like chili. Food is served starting at 6:00 p.m., available until supplies run out. All meals are courtesy of chef Erik Chizeck.
Bourbon County Stout Tapping at Acre
It's the most wonderful time of year! And not because of the holidays, but because of Goose Island's coveted Bourbon County Stout. The acclaimed elixir is getting its own party at Acre on November 18, in advance of its 2015 release. As fans eagerly await this year's production, Acre is tapping into kegs of Bourbon County Stout that have been cellaring since 2011, 2012, and 2013. All three of these rare varieties will be available as 10-ounce pours or as part of a vertical flight. A rep from Goose Island will be on hand to schmooze and chat up the Bourbon County Stout, and Acre's chef Mike Lathrop will provide special food to pair with the stouts. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling the restaurant.
Build-Your-Own Miso Ramen at Sunda
Ramen has been all the rage as of late in Chicago, especially now that we're entering the throes of colder weather. And for ramen-lovers who prefer a little customization with their noodles, Sunda has just the ticket for you. The River North restaurant is offering "build-your-own" miso ramen for lunch. Using the ramen base as their launching pad, made with noodles, broth, poached egg, scallions, carrots, radishes, sprouts, seaweed, and Furikake seasoning mix, diners then get to go nuts with additional proteins and vegetables. These range from kimchi and oxtail to mushrooms, sea ball, bison ribs, cod, tiger shrimp, tofu, kale, bone marrow, pickled daikon, and more. The "BYO" ramen is available Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., and also during brunch hours on weekends from 10:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Bourbon Dinner at The Signature Room
Bourbon tastes better with a panoramic view of the skyline. Which is why you should book it to The Signature Room for their bourbon dinner on November 17 at 6:00 p.m. Hosted by Beam Suntory's Matt Obermark, the event is a four-course affair featuring dishes prepared by chef Cardel Reid paired with a variety of bourbon cocktails. At meal's end, each guest will get a gift bag complete with a bottle of Knob Creek Single Barrel Bourbon. The dinner is $100 per person and reservations can be made by calling the restaurant.
