Cheat on Meat or Go Whole Beast at Green City Market Junior Board's Fall Fundraiser
The only time cheating is acceptable is when it involves vegetables and meat and no broken relationships. It’s also good when a slew of Chicago’s finest chefs are involved. The delicious affair in question is the annual fall fundraiser for the Green City Market Junior Board. Dubbed “A (Mostly) Veggie Affair: Cheat on Meat or Go Whole Beast!,” the grand event takes place at Moonlight Studios (1446 W. Kinzie St.) on Friday, October 2.
Several of Chicago’s most revered chefs will be cooking dishes using Green City Market produce in lieu of meat. The walk-around tasting event features the vegetal stylings of Eric Mansavage (Farmhouse), Nathan Sears (The Radler), Chris Davies (Homestead on the Roof), Paul Virant (Perennial Virant), Lawrence Letrero (Sable Kitchen & Bar), Andres Padilla (XOCO), and others.
The meaty portion of the event comes in the form of three chefs cooking whole animals. These chefs include Jared Batson of The Nomad Food Company, Scott Manley of Table, Donkey & Stick, and David Ochs of Maple & Ash.
Along with food, the event will feature four of Chicago's top mixologists, including Will Duncan from Punch House, Billy Helmkamp from The Whistler, Freddie Sarkis from Broken Shaker, and Riley Huddleston from I|O Godfrey. Beer and cider comes courtesy of Moody Tongue and Virtue Cider.
Another new facet this year is a VIP hour, which begins at 6:00 p.m. This provides early access for guests to sample the offerings from chefs, bartenders, and brewers.
It all goes down from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., with proceeds benefitting Green City Market. Tickets are $75 for general admission and $95 for VIP access. Purchase tickets here.
