Lindy's Chili & Gertie's Ice Cream - McKinley Park - Chicago

Two historic Chicago businesses in one: Gertie's Ice Cream dates to 1901, while Lindy's Chili opened in 1924.

Sundaes, floats, sodas and "triple rich" malts and milkshakes are built with house-made ice cream..

The mild, chunky, beef-and-tomato chili comes with or without your choice of beans or macaroni. Lindy's also serves chili over pasta and a variety of burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches. Fries are fresh cut daily.

Other locations include Ashburn, Garfield Ridge and Mount Greenwood in Chicago, and the suburbs of Bridgeview, Cicero, Countryside and Morris.

Was at McKinley Park and saw this place. Decided to check it out. Can say I was not disappointed. Atmosphere was calm and soothing. Food tasted amazing, looked good and was fresh. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves a nice, calm and relaxing place. Customer service is excellent and they are always cheerful and ready to help. One thing that brightens me up every day is getting my food from here. I absolutely love, love, looooovvvveeee this place. Will always, always return and recommend to friends.

Lindy’s was a big part of my life growing up by McKinley Park. My childhood home was on Leavitt Street, which was just across the street from the park, and also down the block from Lindy’s Chili. Hands down, the chili was simply amazing, and when I used to walk home from Kelly high, I could smell the delicious aroma of chili from outside beckoning me to go in and order a bowl. As I waited for my order to be ready I would pull out a few quarters from my pocket to play a few games on the pinball machine. So many years have past, and I have finally given up on ever finding a place that can compete with Lindy’s famous chili. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
