Kim & Scott's Pretzel Bakery

Kim & Scott's Pretzel Bakery - Glenview

Housed in the Kohl Children's Museum, this whimsical cafe serves hand-twisted soft pretzels, sandwiches made on pretzel bread, salads, desserts, and a kids' menu mindful of food allergies. The all-natural, gourmet pretzels come in flavors like spinach and cheese, herbed cream cheese, chocolate, berry and apple cinnamon. The cafe also offers "Twist 'N Top," where kids can twist and decorate their own pretzels.

Kim & Scott's has its own entrance at the front of the museum, so you don't need to pay an admission charge to get your twisted treat. You don't even have to go to Glenview, because the pretzels, manufactured on Chicago's Near West Side, are also sold frozen at Whole Foods, Jewel and other stores.

Kim and Scott Holstein cooked up their flavored-pretzel idea in their Lincoln Park studio apartment in 1995 and began selling them to mom-and-pop places in their neighborhood. They got their big break when their pretzels were featured on QVC and they sold 150,000 pretzels in the first 12 minutes.
