I visited the Horizon Cafe with my extended family the morning after Thanksgiving. We had no trouble getting us all seated or served quickly. My food (Texas-style French toast) was delicious, but unfortunately not all of us were so pleased. My husband ordered a Greek skillet that had so many black olives (at least one or two in each bite. An absurd amount, seriously) neither of us could stomach it - and he loves olives! It looked like they had just dumped an entire can of them into his plate. My brother-in-law had a similar problem with his [Gypsy?] skillet, and left most of it on his plate, too. The staff are polite and kind, and the food that we did like was great! It's just that the menu seems to be quite hit-or-miss. I would happily go to the Horizon Cafe again! But I think I'll stick to the French toast. 😉

Best place in the neighborhood if you want yummy homey diner food. The service is amazing and the staff really makes you feel at home! You can really tell how much care and time is put into running such a pleasant place. After our delicious meal (I had spectacular Athenian pork chops) we were shown a dessert tray and ended up ordering the peanut butter cup cheesecake (delicious) the chocolate cake (delicious) and the rice pudding which was great and made fresh in house. I always feel so great eating here and it makes me so happy that so much pride is taken in running such a great local spot. Five stars!

The best diner-food in Chicago, far as I'm concerned. We order/go there at least once a week. Soups are some of the best I've ever had, and the wraps are solid. Whenever any friends are in town, we make sure to take them here.

Horizon Cafe is a classic diner. Eclectic menu with breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. Their BLT w/ Avocado salad was delicious, and the waffle that my friend order looked super huge and fluffy. It wasn't outrageously busy on a Saturday around 11, which was nice also. I'll be coming back for sure!
