El Milagro's tacos, burritos and more are all made on their own fresh tortillas, which start with whole corn, stone-ground at the factory.
Founder Raul Lopez grew up in Mexico City, where he lived with his uncle, a miller. After Lopez came to the United States in 1942, he worked as a trackman on the Illinois Central Railroad. To help make ends meet, in 1950, the father of 12 began to make and peddle fresh tortillas in his spare time.
Today, the company, still run by the Lopez family, sells tortillas, tostadas and tortilla chips to grocery stores and restaurants across the Midwest, as well as maintaining three Chicago taquerias and locations in Austin, Texas, and Atlanta. \
