Chizakaya - CLOSED
Shareable small plates and communal tables are the focus at this concept opened in September 2010, a melding of a Japanese pub with a Chicago locale. Signature items include okashi (snacks) such as black edamame, oshinko (pickled seasonal vegetables) and yakitori (meat and vegetable skewers). Seasonal and local ingredients drive the changing menu, which is prepared in an open kitchen.
The bar serves an extensive selection of sake, shochu, Japanese and American whiskeys and beers, along with specialty drinks prepared with house-made juices, syrups and bitters. Coffee is individually brewed to order from a special blend of family-farmed beans from Crop to Cup roasted locally in small batches at Asado Coffee Co. and tea drinkers can choose from hand-selected offerings by Rare Tea Cellar. Closed Sundays.
