Going VIP During Outdoor Concerts

There’s nothing better than an alfresco live-music event during the summer in Chicago. The only issue, of course, is that sometimes you just don’t feel like lugging around a picnic basket full of goodies. Sometimes you also don’t feel like shopping to fill that picnic basket with food and heavy bottles of booze. And let’s not forget that you never feel like cleaning up afterwards.

That’s why we were beyond excited to experience Lawncierge, the new VIP tented area at Ravinia Festival this summer. Available during sold-out shows (except for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and children’s performances) at the sprawling outdoor concert venue, the luxury lounge setup is hosted by Celebrity Cruises and offers those willing to shell out $250 per person a grand evening.

In addition to the area’s exclusive, tented section—which is guarded by an actual concierge—Lawncierge features share-able gourmet bites, a premium open bar and luxe lounge furniture upon which to enjoy the show. Cocktail enthusiasts will especially appreciate Lawncierge’s unique craft cocktails, which are created by master mixologist Junior Merino. The cocktails and cuisine are both seasonal, using local ingredients; expect dishes such as Bloody Mary grilled shrimp skewers, charcuterie and grilled ribeye.

You may also indulge in a luxury picnic for two as Fairmont Hotel Chicago debuts Chef in the Park during outdoor concerts at Millennium Park. This experience is custom designed to fit your tastes as the hotel’s culinary team meets with you before your outing.

The picnic is served by the chef before the concert, where he will also dole out culinary tips and your favorite alcoholic beverages. Dishes include antipasti, sushi and salads. It’s $600 per couple and arrangements may be made by calling the hotel at 312-861-3798. Parking is also included in the deal.
