Absinthe Dinner at Community Tavern
Absinthe gets its turn in the spotlight this week with a North Shore Distillery dinner at Community Tavern on March 2. The intoxicating spirit will be showcased across a four-course menu at the bar from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., where chef Joey Beato will roll out a spread of French-inspried fare. The menu includes grilled figs with black licorice, apple vinaigrette, and rye croutons; braised lamb leg tortellini with mint pesto and lavender honey; duck a la orange with roast turnips and anise-orange demi, and frozen lemon souffle with spiced doughnut holes. Each dish will be served with a specific absinthe cocktail. Seating is limited and reservations can be made by calling the restaurant. The cost is $65 per person.
Buffalo Chicken Ramen at Arami
Arami is getting crafty for its next noodle night, which takes place the last Monday of every month. For this go-round on February 29, chef de cuisine Ajay Popli has created three whimsical and comforting dishes to help make your Leap Day extra memorable. There's the aforementioned buffalo chicken ramen, made with actual buffalo wings, celery, carrots, scallions, and a blue cheese and miso broth. The bolognese-men is an homage to the meaty, saucy Italian staple via kishimen noodles, housemade bolognese sauce, and Parmesan cheese. Then there's the Wagyu ravioli, featuring handmade ramen ravioli, meat filling, and an uni cream sauce. Each dish is $14, and Arami will also be featuring specials on hot sake and Japanese beers.
Chablis Dinner at Cherry Circle Room
Cherry Circle Room is gearing up to begin a series of winemaker dinners, with the first one taking place March 2. This one is all about Chablis, featuring guest winemaker Didier Seguier from William Fevre Chablis. The event starts at 6:00 p.m. with a reception in the Drawing Room, with passed bites and a preview of the 2014 vintages. Next, things move over to Cherry Circle Room for a four-course tasting menu by chef Pete Coenen. Each dish will pair with one of William Fevre Chablis' back catalog vintages. The cost to attend is $90 per person.
Texas Tiki Disco at Lost Lake
In other booze news, Logan Square's red-hot tiki bar Lost Lake is going on vacation for a week and ceding its space to one of Houston's preeminent bars. Well, technically the Lost Lake crew is going on a research trip to Martinique. Anvil Bar & Refuge will be making its way north from February 28 through March 4, during which time Lost Lake will operate with a Texas Tiki Disco theme. Expect a completely morphed menu, design, and even themed dishes from Thank You. will transform from Chinese food to 1970's-era dinner party snacks like shrimp cocktail, pigs in a blanket, and deviled eggs.
