New Happy Hour Promotions That Raise the Bar

Following the legalization of happy hour a few months ago, a slew of restaurants and bars hopped on the bandwagon offering discounted deals on cocktails, spirits, wine, and more. Not to mention food-based happy hours. Needless to say, it's been a happy summer. But the fun isn't over, as several more restaurants have joined the club as of late. Here are some of the most promising new happy hours to hit up in Chicago:

FIG & OLIVE
FIG & OLIVE

FIG & OLIVE: Happy hour gets a ritzy Italian accent at FIG & OLIVE, where "Aperitivo Hour" takes place Sunday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Available in the restaurant's bar and lounge, Aperitivo Hour begets a handful of discounted specials on crostini, draft beer, wine, and cocktails. For food, the restaurant's signature crostini are offered for $6 for three pieces or $11 for six pieces, available in varieties like grilled leek with romesco and hazelnut, or Gorgonzola with apple and red pepper marmalade. Along with specially priced draft beers for $5, there's plenty of wine selections by the glass and cocktails for $7 to $10, like the Fig & Walnut Julep and the Pear Blanche with gin, elderflower liqueur, housemade pear syrup, egg white, and black peppercorn.

Dove's Luncheonette: Tequila takes the stage for happy hour at Dove's Luncheonette, where boozy beverages are discounted on weekdays from 3:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Options include a "Sip or Shoot" of mezcal or tequila for $5, a shorty of beer for $2, or a Bloody Maria for $6.

LYFE Kitchen: Beer, flatbreads, Pinot Grigio, and Malbec are on deck for happy hour at LYFE Kitchen, which is newly available weekdays from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at all Chicagoland locations. Draft beers go for $4, with options including Allagash White and Dark Horse Crooked Tree IPA, while flatbreads are just $5 and come in varieties like roasted mushroom and goat cheese, margherita, and barbecue chicken. Glasses of red or white wine, meanwhile, are $6.

The Publican: For happy hour at The Publican, the West Loop's temple of oysters, pork, and beer is playing to its strengths with a special combo called the "Publican Plate." Available weekdays from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., the special features an oyster, daily selection of ham, house garlic dill pickle, butter, Publican Quality Bread, and a 10-ounce pour of Krombacher Pilsner. All this for just $10.
