March is National Nutrition Month and National Noodle Month. Let's ignore the former and focus on the latter. In honor of this starchy, comforting month, here's a crop of noodle news for you to ponder and salivate over while making dining plans:
New Seafood Pasta Menu at Shaw's Schaumburg:
Considering March is also Lent, the new seafood pasta menu at Shaw's Schaumburg is doubly perfect. Changing seasonally, the new menu is the perfect accent to Shaw's beloved seafood plates, with dishes like Manila clams with tagliolini pasta in clam ragu; orecchiette pasta with shrimp, roasted tomato, and braised kale; and strozzapreti pasta with lobster, lobster cream, arugula, and lemon. Additionally, the restaurant's fan-favorite lobster mac & cheese is now available as a side dish.
Weekly Pasta Specials at Tesori:
Since noodles get their own month on the weird food holiday calendar, Tesori is rightfully celebrating all month long with a slew of pasta specials. The Loop restaurant is featuring a different housemade pasta special every week, in addition to their regular "pasta fatta in casa" dishes that are omnipresent. Between March 2 and March 8, the special du jour is chitarra carbonara flecked with bacon, Parmigiano-Reggiano, caramelized onions, and a poached egg. From March 9 through March 15, it's spinach and pesto spaghetti with basil, nutmeg, Parmigiano-Reggiano, toasted pistachios, and grilled shrimp. Ricotta and Talleggio ravioli is on deck March 16 through March 22, followed by orecchiette with roasted broccolini and cherry tomatoes March 23 through the end of the month. Other regular pasta dishes include ravioli with braised chicken and Berkshire pork belly, spinach-ricotta agnolotti, sausage and kale lasagna, and tagliatelle with duck bolognese.

In other pasta news, one of Chicagoland's most revered outlets for all things carbs recently opened a restaurant, cafe, and bar along Michigan Avenue's Magnificent Mile. Labriola Ristorante & Cafe offers downtown shoppers, denizens, and tourists a fresh new outlet for starchy stamina, which includes a hefty array of pastas. Think penne and meatballs, orecchiette with fennel sausage, gnocchi bolognese, and four-cheese tortellini in garlic cream sauce.
