Weekday Planner: National Pierogi Day, Peruvian Family Dinner, Coppervine Specials, Beer & Burger Night

National Pierogi Day at Bohemian House

In case you aren't up to code with your Polish food holidays, let me remind you that National Pierogi Day is October 8. And no finer place to celebrate than at Bohemian House, the slickest thing to happen to Eastern European food in ages. Chef Jimmy Papadopoulos knows his way around a pierogi, crafting exemplary versions of the traditional filled doughy dumplings with meltingly tender beef, carrots, pickled shallots, and signature sauce. In honor of the holiday, Bohemian House will also dole out complimentary sauerkraut pierogi to diners, served with sour cream, onions, and bacon.

Peruvian Family Dinner Series

Celebrating the innate familial aspect of Peruvian dining traditions, Tanta is poised to continue its family-inspired dinner series on October 7 with a multi-course meal. Chefs Jesus Delgado, Victoriano Lopez, and Christian Padilla are teaming up with Diego Garay, Commercial Director of Sena Vineyard to curate a family-style feast. Dishes include king crab causita, wild swordfish with yucca mash, braised leg of lamb, pumpkin and sweet potato fritters, and more. The dinner is held on the second floor at 6:00 p.m. and tickets are $90 per person, plus $65 for optional beverage pairings. Reservations can be made by contacting Lucy Kendall at 312-222-9604 or events@tantachicago.com.

Weekday Specials at Coppervine

Food and beverage specials help the week go by smoothly. Especially when said specials entail wine, Champagne, and fried chicken. Coppervine's new weekday specials break up the monotony of the week with $35 three-course prix fixe menus on Tuesdays for "date night," 50% off wines by the bottle for Wino Wednesdays, and bubbly and fried chicken on Thursdays for $20.

Beer & Burger Night at Pizza Rustica

Don't let the name fool you. Pizza Rustica is much more than rustic pizza. In fact, the restaurant offers a crafty array of dishes, the latest example of which being their inaugural Beer & Burger night on October 9. With three burger specials on deck, guests can select their dinner of choice, paired with a free tasting of three fall beers. Designed to pair with said beers, the burgers are the masterwork of chef Stefano Roman, served on buttery buns with seasoned fries. Burger options include the Decadent Burger with melted herbed bone marrow butter, braised pork belly, and crispy onions; the Mac 'n' Cheese Burger with fried mac 'n' cheese, caramelized onions, and truffle aioli; and the Italian Job Burger with speck, Gorgonzola, fried crispy mushrooms, arugula, San Marzano tomatoes, and roasted garlic aioli.
