Brunch Bites: Kanela Breakfast Club and West Town Bakery & Diner

Kanela Breakfast Club: In this week's batch of brunch bites, Kanela Breakfast Club and West Town Bakery & Diner launch new menus.

One of the north side's most consistently scrumptious brunch destinations just got a whole lot more salacious. Rolling out new breakfast, lunch, brunch, and cocktail menus, Kanela Breakfast Club's Lakeview and Old Town locations are rich with enticing new options. Because if stuffed raspberry cheesecake French toast doesn't entice you, check your pulse and maybe go to the E.R. Less indulgent but no less delicious items include a hummus wrap, chilaquiles, and a smoked salmon wrap. The new cocktail list is perfectly apropos for warm-weather drinking, if that ever happens. Get thirsty for iced Rumchata chai, strawberry basil lemonade, pineapple mojito sangria, and the Kanela Radler, a medley of Stiegl Radler beer, Russian Standard vodka, St-Germain liqueur, and grapefruit juice.

Honing in on comfort food, low prices, and decadence, executive chef Chris "Chip" Davies and pastry chef Chris Teixeira have overhauled the brunch menu at West Town Bakery & Diner. Expect morning poutine with braised short rib and sausage gravy, vegan s'mores pancakes, loaded baked potato pancakes/waffles, Juicy Lucy patty melts, and old fashioned brownie sundaes.
