Sweet of the Week: Ice Cream at Restaurant Big Bowl

Restaurant Big Bowl: If you thought you screamed before for ice cream, you haven't heard anything yet. The new housemade ice cream program at Big Bowl's Gold Coast location is really something to shout about, taking into consideration how divine the texture is, how pronounced the flavors are, and how adorable the adjoining cookies are. Just in time for warm weather, Big Bowl comes to the rescue with sensational, scream-worthy ice cream that I literally want to fill a big bowl with and eat for dinner.

Ever since Patricia Yeo came aboard at Chicago's Big Bowls to work with chef Marc Bernard, the pan-Asian restaurants have seen a surge in creativity and culinary prowess, especially at the Gold Coast location, where Yeo spends most of her time flexing her creative muscles and debuting new menu additions. Along with an impressive array of new savory options and drinks, you're gonna want to save room for the ice cream. The sleeper hit of the meal, Big Bowl's housemade ice creams are quite the feat. They make a variety of flavors, with recent standouts being a cherry-strewn coconut variety and a chocolate sorbet with the silky texture of chilled pudding. They're served in heaping bowls with accompanying mini cookies, just to ensure your dessert is sufficiently adorable.

It's definitely a dessert worth screaming over.
