The Whirlaway lounge has been providing Logan Square with a comfortable and social drinking establishment for over 27 years. Purchased by the Jaimes family in 1980, the Whirlaway has been family owned and run ever since. Rumor has it that the original owner placed a bet on a horse that was not favored to win. This horse would later become a triple crown winner. With his earnings the bar was built and named after the horse; Whirlaway.

I’ll be honest, we call this place home. This is the best bar in Chicago hands down. Maria is the greatest bartender this side of the Mississippi and the world is better with her in it. If you haven’t be here before I can’t wait till you make it :)
