Sushi Dokku - Chicago
Former Sushi Wabi owners Susan Thompson and Angela Hepler-Lee open a 50-seater sushi spot near their former digs. They're aiming to set it apart with what they're calling "dressed nigiri bites," which are accompanied by garnishes and sauces. Expect also typical maki rolls, hot and cold Japanese dishes and a small ramen menu.
Booze Box is Sushi Dokku's cocktail lounge, which is directly underneath the restaurant. The basement bar's menu consists of street eats (crab deviled eggs, Japanese fried chicken, pork katsu) and an assortment of maki rolls.
Deejays spin on weekends at Booze Box. They're cranking out rare grooves, acid jazz, old-school hip-hop and more.
