x Selanne Steak Tavern - Laguna Beach
NHL legend Teemu Selanne--who played for the Anaheim Ducks--is one of the principals behind this traditional steakhouse situated in a historical building built in 1934. It's a great place to congregate over drinks at the casual neighborhood bar, then indulge in steaks, chops and seafood in one of five dining rooms.
They're comprised of the upstairs dining room The Loft, the wine library, downstairs in the Tavern, or outside on the veranda or sunset terrace. Notable accents on the property range from the hand-carved wood door to the sleek Carrara marble fireplace that's been updated from the original brick fireplace that was part of the historic building.
All meat and seafood are sourced from farms practicing humane, antibiotic and steroid free raising techniques. Highlights on the steak menu range from filet mignon and New York strip to a 32-ounce "Lord Stanley" cut of Wagyu beef. All steaks are served with the chef’s seasonal marrow butter and Bordelaise sauce.
Happy Hour takes place 5-6pm Sunday and Tuesday through Friday, offering 20 percent off tavern menu items and discounted beer, wine and cocktails.
