Flamingo Rum Club

Flamingo Rum Club - Chicago

Chicagoans can now get a rich taste of South American and Caribbean entertainment yearround with the arrival of the Flamingo Rum Club. It's rich with flavor, particularly honing in on nostalgic Cuban culture.

Owners Adolfo Garcia (Pearl Tavern) and Phil Stefani (Phil Stefani Restaurants) collaborated on this project, and they bring several decades of nightlife and dining experience into the mix. The establishment is decked out in 1950s Cuban splendor, from the low-slung furniture facing the "stage" (the performances actually perform throughout the main room, mingling with guests) to a VIP-style balcony overlooking the action. There's also the presence of flamingos everywhere you look.

The main attraction is the dance troupe, and it's something not seen in Chicago for ages. The female dancers dress up in traditional Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and Latin American splendor and rock it out to all sorts of beats. Classic and contemporary Latin-inspired cocktails and small bites complement the scene.
