Redstone American Grill - Oakbrook Terrace

This review is complicated because we had a really mixed experience. The reason it's not just a 1 star is that the meal itself was great. Three of us had Parmesan crusted whitefish and I had an amazing Miso glazed Sea Bass- that part was terrific. The rest of the experience, not so much. First the hostess tried to seat us in a relatively small room that already was service two fairly large groups- Admittedly, some of us don't hear as well as we used to, but in that setting we would have been unable to hear each other at all. when we asked to sit in another part of the restaurant we were moved to a quiet, sparsely occupied room that was better. we ordered cocktails and our waiter, who was new, had to make three trips to get the gin and tonic with lime right. The bourbon on ice was good but the glass was all ice and barely a pour of bourbon. Likewise, the wine with dinner seemed a very light pour with a cost that was higher than we expected from the house brand. This place has potential but the staff needs more training before they are ready to serve customers.

Food was really good here. Staff was nice and the manager made sure things were up to par. Cook also came out to check on us also. A1 place for sure.

The new management is amazing. Beautiful atmosphere and wonderful view. Friendly staff and quick service with delicious food and fabulous prime ribeye stakes. Highly recommend and definitely I will be back.

Celebrated a birthday and the waiter was at our table seconds upon seating, without even having a chance to pick up the menu. Attentive staff but loud atmosphere that killed the chill vibe. Food- regardless of the meat our group ordered, was well seasoned and cooked to order. Unfortunately, the side dishes were a bummer, to say the least. Small, red potatoes were under-seasoned, "rationed," and doused in bacon fat, which was an overkill. Mashed potatoes were simply odd, for a lack of a better word, in texture and taste; a "toilet party" in waiting. Vegetables tasted un-seasoned and pretty dead; cause of death- drowning in fat. Describing all veggies would be a waste of allowed characters. All-in-all, props to the meat chef; suggest re-training the sides chef. Good Buffalo-style shrimp but well overpriced; $20 for a piece of 4 medium-sized crawlers. Overall, do not recommend this place for a special occasion nor as a place to relax and unwind.

Food was fantastic, but the service was very poor. Waited over 30 minutes for order to be taken, took long time for drinks to arrive (we had to stop server from walking away after giving us our drinks so we could finally order our food) and appetizer was never put in. We don't blame server since it was very obvious she was overworked and had too many tables to attend to. That said, we still won't go back since service was so poor on our first visit here.
