Pizzeria Portofino - Chicago
This waterfront pizzeria aims to transport guests to the ritzy Italian Riviera. Pizzeria Portofino, owned by the Lettuce Entertain You group, showcases hand-stretched pizzas and coastal wines.
The restaurant was one of the hottest to open in Chicago during summer 2019, and was a hard reservation to score. And, as most LEYE restaurants have proven, guests were treated to something beyond a see-and-be-scene experience.
For brunch, guests will find two specialty pizzas (carbonara & farm egg; smoked salmon & sesame), eggs (In Purgatory; Florentine; breakfast panini) and morning cocktails (Bellini, Bloody Mary; Italian Sunrise of Campari and whipped OJ). The dinner menu is a much expanded version, featuring nine pizzas, five different house-made pastas and a host of antipasta. Gluten-free Caponi pasta and Venice Bakery cauliflower pizza crusts are available upon request.
Charcoal-grilled seafood is the other big star at Portofino. Highlights include offerings like cold water red prawns, split garlic lobster and Atlantic swordfish brochette.
