Eating at Geja’s cafe was an experience I won’t soon forget. I’ve in had fondue only once before. About 15 years ago I made it at home with my the girl friend, and now wife. I have to admit that I was a laborious experience and one I have not attempted since. However, our meal at Gaia’s Cafe was so much a fun and with delicious food. First, the atmosphere and experience was amazing. This is called Chicago’s most restaurant for a reason. The lighting it low with red overtones. This creates a intimate experience. It no wonder multiple wedding proposals are made here on a weekly basis. Second the food quality is very good. If you believe they would skip on good food because focus is on the atmosphere, you are wrong. The cheese for the fondue was very flavorful and yummy. Also, the beef tenderloin, shrimp and veggies were high quality and fresh. Third, service is amazing. Our waiter was friendly and had great suggestions for how to cook the the food in the oil. Also, they are very attentive and cleared the table efficiently. It also says something that the bartender we had has been there for 20 years and the owner worked there for 30 years before buying the restaurant.
My wife and I were here for one of their wine events. The event feature wine pairings from two wineries in the same region of California. Geja’s had representatives from each winery at the event. It was fascinating hearing details about each winery, how their wine was made and how the region of made their wines special. We also had an opportunity to buy some wine which is not available locally.
Over all this was an experience with great food and fun. It is must for date night or if you just love cheese, meat and wine.
