The double bacon cheeseburger at this tiny Evanston spot weighs in at a pound and a half. Regulars also go in for the Vesuvius (a burger served on French bread and topped with pizza sauce, mozzarella, peppers and onions), massive baskets of seasoned cheese fries and regulation Chicago hot dogs, but there's a huge menu to choose from.

We are glad to see "Hot Dog Island" (as we knew it 53 years ago) is still there and open for business. We were just married, working in Evanston and the wife found this little jewel in the middle of 5 Points. Best damn hot dog and fries ever. I guess that's why they are still in business. We'll have to make the 3 hour drive some day and revisit the Island. They still serve it on a sesame seed bun with a dill spear, just as we remember, amazing. We can taste the dog and fries already!

Fantastic value, and quality the only challenge is finding a parking spot sometimes. Food is really good. These are best fries.
