Lawrence Schweig and his wife, Elia, opened this seafood spot in 1950, offering shrimp, fried, boiled or smoked; Lake Michigan fish smoked on site and more. The family expanded its business to 24 hours to meet the needs of shift workers in the area. Today, the carryout spot sells some 10,000 pounds of Gulf shrimp monthly.
