Kitsune

Kitsune - Chicago

Iliana Regan, the famed forager with the Michelin-starred Elizabeth Restaurant, opens a second restaurant in Lincoln Square. Kitsune is a completely different concept, merging Midwestern fare with home-style Japanese cuisine.

It's also much more laid-back than its predecessor, serving Sunday brunch and offering nightly specials. Menus change with the seasons and are intentionally focused on the purity of ingredients of local farmers.

Get ready for dishes like house-made ramp ramen noodles with shio mushroom broth and crudite; grilled octopus ramen with miso broth, shoyu tomago, black garlic chili, leek ash noodle; and fried rice for two with housemade kimchi spam, kimchi, pineapple and fried egg.

Brunch includes some of the dinner offerings, plus options such as a raspberry jelly donut with five-spice cured foie gras; sesame biscuit with shio koji buttermilk fried chicken; and taiyaki pancakes with hot fried chicken thighs.

There's plenty of beverage offerings, including a nice list of sake.
