Gus' Sir Beef Restaurant - Charlotte
Gus Bacogeorge and his family established Gus' Sir Beef Restaurant in 1969. This was long before the farm-to-table movement took off, as Bacogeorge's establishment was known for farm-fresh vegetables with his fried squash a signature offering. Nightly specials are also a highlight at Gus', which offers a family-friendly, neighborhood-style atmosphere.
For example, on Mondays entrees such as fried flounder, fried breaded chicken livers, and grilled tuna steak are served with a choice of two fresh vegetables, homemade biscuits and/or cornbread. Also, Fridays are reserved for grilled hamburger steak, popcorn shrimp, or Grecian-stuffed boneless chicken breast (with side dishes, etc.).
A host of Italian dishes are featured on an all-day, daily menu, including chicken parmesan, veal parmesan, and spaghetti with meat sauce.
