Chicago’s Home of Chicken and Waffles - Bronzeville - Chicago
Patterned after Los Angeles' famed Roscoe's, this Bronzeville spot has made a name for itself for its signature fried chicken served with waffles.

Great experience.......the atmosphere, service and food quality were all top notch. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted and treated well. I visited this place prior to the pandemic, and also, had a good experience. I don't know what took me so long to return but I will definitely be back regularly
The food was good. Not as good as Rosco's in LA but good. But the service wasn't that great. We we're waiting for the other half of our party to arrive so they didn't seat us right away. They eventually seated us because my mom wanted some coffee but they did not refill her coffee and they didn't have hot tea, not even hot water. It seemed liked they were rushing us out. Sorry, I didn't get a chance to take pictures of our food.
For 2 chicken dinners it's $50. I understand inflation, but if you're charging that much, you better make sure you get everything in the order correct. The last two times I've ordered, something wasn't right. The first time, they gave me a side I didn't ask for and left out the side I DID ask for. The second time I ordered double Mac and got double rice. Who wants double rice?? Again, this place costs way too much for these types of mistakes to keep happening. I'll have to contemplate coming here the next time I want soul food. Just might take my butt to my granny's house if I want some Mac n cheese done right.
So I have seen other reviews talk about how good the food is and I would agree that the food is amazing. What you may not see in the other reviews are the small details that matter in a dining experience. I just went on Sunday June 13 and upon arrival we were told it would be about an hour wait, after getting called to our table it took about 20 min before we were even given water at the table for 2. After waiting another 10 minutes or so for them to take our order it took another 30+min for the food to come and not all of it was delivered at one time. And the kicker was getting plastic utensils like the ones that get delivered with your food from a to go order. Try cutting a waffle with a plastic knife. They brought out our lemonade another 10 min or so after the food came and generally ignored our table for the most part. I saw multiple tables that also didn’t get water and were waiting to place orders and the staff generally looked disorganized and walking around lost. After we ate our food it took me asking several of the staff for the bill and even then it took them another 15 min or so after I asked for the bill for them to deliver it and they said your waitress was removed from the floor for a disciplinary incident which we witnessed in the floor with her and another table of customers. The food being amazing doesn’t truly make the dining experience worth going back to this place for, the staff is disorganized and slow and the service is poor at best, if you care about quality service this is not the place to go to and unless you want poor service and long wait times to get seated and then also to get your food this is not the place to go to. It was a very disappointing experience all around and I would never go back.
The food itself is very good - Monique's Love is my go-to! The server was nice but the service could be better. I ordered coffee and the coffee that was served to me was cold. The service was also slow, but it was very busy when I went. Overall, it's worth a visit, but avoid going on Sundays as it's very busy. I've also ordered delivery from here several times and my food has always been great!
I’ve been here before, today I brought two of my friends co- workers, we’re tradesmen one white guy and two Mexicans we waited 1 hour and 15 minutes and still no food, we sat there and watched other people get served chicken, fish, waffles that ordered after us, that’s when we decided to leave, I asked our waiter for the bill for the pops and grits that we’re leaving he said don’t worry about it, as if he already knew why we we’re leaving UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Our order wasn’t even put in? I apologized to my friends but they felt what I felt, this don’t change my mind about the people I love and people in general, I’ll never support this business again and I will let my family and friends know how we were treated
Best soul food ever. Practiced strict social distancing. Servers were very pleasant with great attitudes which added to the experience. Will always return to this location. A real Chicago experience with good people and great food. Very family friendly all patrons were truly satisfied. Best Fried Chicken. Best Greens, Best corn bread, I might be able to compete on the Mac n cheese but finished it all. To look around and see everyone, including kids happy, laughing, enjoying, was a very pleasant experience for me especially now in this pandemic
